Today, Wednesday 21/10/26 0830 I have again reported the 'subsidence' cracks on the Salisbury direction carriageway at Dunwood Hill, Hampshire Highways reference 21921302. Given the change in weather from extreme dry drought to torrential rain and increasing widening of these cracks on the steep side of a hill, I am concerned about partial road collapse. perhaps with little warning. The area has been marked up. I have asked for proposed repair plan and what studies have been done on the bank itself.... given today rain, 🤞for some answers soon and that the bank remains stable.

Good to raise issue. If the material in an embankment dries out completely or becomes completely saturated, it can become unstable due to loss of meniscus forces, and may slump. Cycling between the two states can be particularly problematic. Hopefully the road issues are being considered as potentially structural rather than simple potholes!
