Harvest Mice at Mill Lane Meadows, Sherfield English
·
Our Reserves Officers have been out doing our annual survey of Harvest Mice (Micromys minutus) at Mill Lane Meadows (https://testvalley.gov.uk/.../natureres.../mill-lane-meadows) today in the glorious autumnal sunshine
The survey consists of us looking through long grass to try and spot one of their intricately woven grass nests, and when we find them we take measurements, photos, and record the findings on a national database
We found 3 nests today which was more than last year, so we are very happy with the results!
Harvest mice are very small, so the best way of finding them is by the evidence they leave behind. More information on these wonderful little creatures can be found here: https://www.wildlifetrusts.org/wild.../mammals/harvest-mouse
